My Story
Shawn Kennedy is a proud alumnus of Morehouse College where he attended as a UNCF Scholarship recipient.
While in school Shawn created Halftime Sports, a sporting apparel retail clothing store.
Opening 5 locations in 4 states before graduating. Shawn settled in Charlotte, NC upon graduation where he opened three additional retail stores.
In 2006, he founded Brevard Hospitality Group, the umbrella organization of a chain for four brick and mortar restaurants/bars within the city of Charlotte. In 2009, he formed Kennedy Properties, focusing on affordable single family home rentals. Today Kennedy Properties has owned and managed over 80 properties throughout the Carolinas.
In 2011, Mr. Kennedy felt the need to focus more on community and impacting lives. Meck Investment Company (MiCo) and the Impact camp was formed, a non-profit that focuses on changing the trajectory of our most important investment, our children. Impact camp will hold it's 10th this July, hosting 250 young men. As of today over 1500 young men have attended Impact.
In 2020 Mr. Kennedy co-founded Prosperity Alliance, a non-profit that develops for sale workforce/affordable housing communities in Charlotte as well as in neighboring cities. Prosperity currently has over 300 for sale homes affordable under development. As an entrepreneur, and community activist with a passion for change in his community.
